With most sites, the privacy policy is where they explain everything they collect. This one is short for the opposite reason: the converter runs on your device, so there isn't much for us to collect. Here's exactly what does and doesn't happen to your data.
1. The short version
We never receive your files. Every conversion happens locally, inside your web browser, on your own device. ZeroUpload does not operate a file-processing backend that receives, processes, or stores the files you convert.
2. Your files
- When you convert a file, it is read into your browser's memory, converted on your device, and offered back to you as a download.
- Your file is never uploaded to ZeroUpload for processing.
- We keep no copy of your files. We could not retrieve one if asked because we never receive it.
- When you close or refresh the page, the file data is released from memory.
You can verify this yourself: start a conversion and then disconnect your internet — it will still work — or open your browser's developer Network tab and confirm there are no file-upload requests. (The AI-powered background remover needs a one-time model download first; after that, it too does all its work on your device. See section 5.)
3. Information we do collect
ZeroUpload is a static website. To operate and improve it, we may use:
- Privacy-respecting, aggregate analytics to understand anonymous usage (such as which pages are popular and general traffic counts). This never includes the contents of your files and is not used to identify you.
- Advertising: If the site displays ads, advertising partners may use cookies or similar technologies as described in their own privacy policies. Ads do not receive your files.
We do not require accounts, and we do not ask for or store personal information such as your name or email to use the converter.
4. Cookies
The core converter works without requiring cookies. Any cookies used are limited to basic site functionality and, where applicable, advertising partners. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time.
5. Third-party services
The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages, which serves the static pages and application files. Like other web hosts, Cloudflare may process standard technical request data (such as IP address and user agent) to deliver the site and protect against abuse. This does not involve the files you convert.
AI-powered tools. The background remover runs an AI model directly in your browser. The first time you use it, your browser downloads the model file from a third-party AI model host (Hugging Face's CDN); after that it may be cached on your device. Downloading the model involves a normal web request to that host, but your image is not uploaded there for processing — the model comes down to your device, and the image processing happens locally.
6. Children's privacy
ZeroUpload is a general-purpose utility and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
7. Your rights (GDPR / CCPA)
Because we do not collect or store your files or personal account data, there is no account or file archive for us to export or delete. For data that hosting or advertising providers may process, their own privacy terms apply.

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above.
